Sheriff's Department

An early-morning Monday traffic mishap resulted in a pickup truck partially submerged in a Floyd Township pond.

At 3:20 a.m., Beau A. Spencer, 17, Greencastle, was northbound on County Road 600 East approaching a 90-degree curve.

Deputy Matt Biggs said that tire marks indicated that Spencer was driving his 1995 Ford F150 too fast to make the turn in the rainy conditions of Monday morning.

Spencer failed to negotiate the curve and left the north side of the road.

The truck hit a tree and continued down an embankment, coming to rest in a pond at 5846 N. CR 600 East.

The driver reported no injuries. The vehicle was towed.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

Biggs was assisted at the scene by Sgt. Kyle Gibbons.
