Banner Graphic: What was the best thing about playing for South Putnam this season?

Chloe Custis: We play together as a team all season. Whenver we were down we would come back and fight. We never gave up. We improved so much throughout the season.

BG: What are some of the best qualities about your coach (Jill Newton)?

CC: She's fun. She teaches in a nice way so we can understand it. But she's stern so we do it.

BG: What does it take to win a county tournament?

CC: Determination. You have to go out and fight. If there's stuff going on outside the game, you have to lose it all on the court. Once you are on that court you have to fight and fight to show what you got.

BG: What are your favorite things about basketball?

CC: Basketball is my favorite sport. I like being out there more. It's a faster paced game. One of the things it says on the back of our shirts is 'mistakes happen.' It's what you do after. You go on to the next play. I really think that fits well with all sports but especially basketball because it's faster. It's next shot and next possesion, even on defense. In softball you have to wait until the next time you get up to bat or next time the ball is hit to you. It's similar to volleyball.

BG: What are your favorite things about your teammates.

CC: We always push each other. If we know someone is slacking off or not in the right spot then we know each other well enough to know how to intereact with one another and teach each other. We can tell them to go and set the screen in a nice way, the way we know to teach them.

BG: What was it like winning the tourney.

CC: It wa awesome. We really gave all we had. We played really well and together as a team. It was really good.
