Clovers, Cubs run at HSR championships

The Cloverdale and Greencastle track teams both members compete in the Indoor State Finals at Purdue University's Lambert Fieldhouse.

Cloverdale saw several athletes place in the top 10 while the Lady Tiger Cubs placed tenth overall, the highest finish ever for a Greencastle girls' team at the Hoosier Sate Relays.

For Cloverdale Samantha Atwood placed ninth in pole vault, the boys' 4x800 team of Ryan Heavener, Chad Stevens, Jackson Szczerbik and Nick Blundell placed ninth and the boys' 4x400 team of Hevener, Tyler Kaeff, RT Mann, and Nick Blundell placed seventh.

Kaeff placed seventh the in the 60-meter hurdles, and Blake Willis placed sixth in pole vault.

Greencastle freshman Emma Wilson got her track season off to a good start with a second-place finish in the 3200. He time of 11:02.34 is a new GHS record. The Tiger Cub distance medley of Arianna Pershing, Corrie Romer, Mika Morawa and Wilson placed sixth.

Katie Haynes, Pershing, Morawa and Wilson placed 13th in the 4x800 relay 10:54.03, Bailey Lausee, Rose Lemier-Mauritchitch, Romer and Katerina King earned a time of 1:53.48 in the 4x200 placing them 11th and King placed 15th in the 60-meter dash.

CHS' next meet will be with North Putnam and Eminence on April 5 while GHS will run at home against Danville.
