Agnes Helen Walker, 94, of Belle Union, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2016.

She was born on Jan. 31, 1922 in Monroe County, Ky. to John and Vernie Thompson.

Agnes married Arlyn T. Walker on Feb. 5, 1944, and he preceded her in death on July 14, 2008.

She worked as a cook for Belle Union High School and at DePauw University for several sorority and fraternity houses

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Helen and infant daughter Karen; one brother; and five sisters.

Agnes is survived by a daughter, Donna Schmalix and husband Tom of Belle Union; a granddaughter, Steffanie Hornback and companion Wayne Campbell of Monrovia; a grandson, Patrick Schmalix and wife Ginny of California; a great-grandson, Cale Hornback; a great-granddaughter, A.J. Hornback; a step-great-grandson, Matthew Honeycutt of Kentucky; and a sister, Corrine Knaebel and husband John of Michigan.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 6 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Matthews officiating. Interment will follow at Walnut Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials in Agnes' name may be shared with the Putnam County Humane Society.
