Chuck Schroeder of PCCS receives INARF leadership award
Charles N. Schroeder, former Putnam County Comprehensive Services CEO, has received the James M. Hammond III Executive Leadership Award, an award presented annually to an outstanding executive or administrator in the human service industry.
The state award was presented during the recent 2016 Annual Awards Luncheon, part of the Indiana Association of Rehabilitative Facilities (INARF) Kaleidoscope -- Inspiring the Creative Spirit Conference in Indianapolis for professionals serving individuals with disabilities.
The award presentation coincided with Disability Awareness Month in Indiana.
Schroeder was in competition for the award with fellow nominees Onias Taruwinga, CDC Resources Inc.; Donna L. Belusar, ADEC Inc.; Debbie Bennett, Hillcraft Services Inc.; William Trowbridge, Parents and Friends Inc.; Patrick Cockrum, Sycamore Services Inc.; Steve Sacksteder, Four Rivers Resource Services Inc.; Cary Kelsey, ADEC Inc.; and Oliver Wendt.
Schroeder was nominated by Putnam County Comprehensive Services (PCCS), a Greencastle-based organization committed to providing services to individuals with disabilities in order for them to reach their optimum potential in attitudes, habits and skills through training and integration, and to promote community awareness and acceptance of people with differing abilities.
"Chuck believes in individuals with disabilities and their ability to enhance the lives of the people in their local communities," the nomination noted. "Through the years he has been committed to bringing folks of all abilities together improving the quality of life in this community."
Schroeder currently serves as executive director emeritus of PCCS with Andrew Ranck as the organization's new executive director.
INARF officials said the prestigious award recognizes Schroeder's success and accomplishments.
INARF is the principal membership organization in Indiana representing providers of services to people with disabilities. Its members serve more than 50,000 Indiana citizens annually and employ more than 14,500 full-time employees.
For more than 40 years, INARF has maintained positive work relationships with governmental agencies responsible for human service programs, promoted networking and professional development opportunities for members, and provided leadership and support in the promotion of quality programs for persons with disabilities. INARF is committed to strengthening the system of services and supports for Hoosiers with disabilities.
