County Jail

Eleven people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At noon on Friday, Rolland Corey Alexander Jacobson, 23, Cloverdale, was lodged at the jail for probation violation.

At 4:30 p.m. Patricia Ann Sircy, 51, Greenwood, was arrested on a warrant.

At 7:20 p.m. Shannon R. Poole, 36, Terre Haute, was booked in on a warrant.

At 10:45 p.m. James Allen Smith, 35, Greencastle, was taken into custody for public intoxication.

* At 1:10 a.m. on Sunday, Tracie Kay Gruner, 49, Coatesville, was housed at the jail on a warrant.

At 1:55 a.m. Matthew Jacob McKinney, 18, Cloverdale, was charged with being a minor in consumption of alcohol, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, possession of a schedule drug, furnishing alcohol to a minor and possession of paraphernalia.

* At 10:15 a.m. on Monday, Michael Dane Bastin, 43, Greencastle, was arrested on a warrant.

At 4 p.m. Tyler Aaron Alsiup, 31, Coatesville, was booked in on a warrant.

At 7:42 p.m. Elijah Dean Isenhower, 25, Danville, was housed at the jail on possession of paraphernalia.

At 7:42 p.m. Anthony Michael Leonard, 20, Greencastle, was housed at the jail for disorderly conduct disturbing the peace, resisting law enforcement and false informing.

* At 1:40 a.m. on Tuesday, Matthew Allen Rudolph, 24, Greencastle, was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated with a prior conviction.

City Police

One teenager was arrested and three more will be summoned into court on possession of marijuana charges resulting from a 4:49 a.m. incident Sunday.

Officer Zach Rhine made a traffic stop at Washington and Bloomington streets, arresting Joseph Westropp, 19, Fort Wayne, for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. Lodged in the Putnam County Jail, he had a portable breathalyzer reading of .123 percent blood-aclohol.

Westropp was also cited as a minor in consumption of alcohol and for possession of marijuana.

Three teenage passengers in his vehicle will be summoned into court on possession of marijuana charges. They are:

-- Kyle Garner, 18, Greencastle.

-- Alexander Pintilie, 19, New York City.

-- Nikolas Polite, 19, Greencastle.

In another case, four people are facing charges following a 9 p.m. incident Friday at a Hillsdale Avenue apartment.

Craig Edwards, 53, Greencastle, is facing charges of possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and furnishing alcohol to a minor. He was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

Meanwhile, Lane Garrett Franklin, 19, Coatesville, was housed at the jail for probation violation and being a minor in consumption of alcohol.

And two teenagers will be summoned into court to face charges as minors in consumption of alcohol in the incident.

They are Troy Wardlow, 19, Greencastle, and Chelsey McCullough, 18, Greencastle.

One recent traffic accident was investigated by city officers.

* At 3:50 p.m. Friday, a two-car mishap occurred at College Avenue and Walnut Street.

Officer Kyle Lee reported that a 2012 Buick Regal, driven by Gayle Brown, 84, Greencastle, collided with a 2015 Chevrolet Cruz, driven by Sean Warbington, 41, Camby.

Brown was eastbound on Walnut Street and Warbington was southbound on College Avenue when the mishap occurred. They told conflicting stories about who had the right of way and who did or did not stop for a stsopsign.

Total damage was estimated at $2,500-$5,000.

Warbington was cited for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

Sheriff's Department

Putnam County sheriff's deputies responded to three recent property-damage crashes.

* At 10:41 a.m. on Tuesday, March 29, A two-vehicle crash occurred at the southeast end of Dunbar Covered Bridge.

George E. Huff, 79, Greencastle, was approaching the bridge in a 2016 Ford Fusion. Melissa C. Lientz, 45, Greencastle, was traveling southeast on the bridge in a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am.

Both drivers told Deputy Virgil Lanning the could not see the other because of the sharp turn at the end of the bridge, and they collided.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000. Both vehicles were towed.

* At 10:44 a.m. on Sunday, a Greencastle woman's vehicle was damaged when she was run off the road by a driver who fled the scene on County road 400 North.

Kelli E. Warf, 24, told Deputy Lanning she was eastbound, approaching County Road 575 East in a 2016 Chrysler 300 when she was forced off the road by a light blue older vehicle.

Warf's car left the road and hit a wooden post. The other vehicle turned around and drove past the scene at a high rate of speed.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 11:05 a.m. on Sunday, Pamela J. Merrill, 66, Greencastle, was eastbound on County Road 350 North in a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu. Chris L. Williamson, 50, Greencastle, was backing out of the driveway at 1294 W. CR 350 North in a 2001 GMC Sierra.

Williamson told Capt. Tom Helmer she failed to observe Merrill's vehicle as she backed up. Her attention was on another vehicle in the driveway.

Williamson backed into 350 North and hit the passenger side of Merrill's car.

Merrill said she did not have time to react and was hit by Williamson's truck.

Williamson complained of back pain and was going to a medical facility later in the day.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department recently responded to nine dispatches and four medical assists.

* At 11:50 a.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 413 S. Locust St. GFD determined the alarm was due to cooking and returned to station at 12:04 p.m.

* At 7:20 p.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a report concerning a car on fire on U.S. 231 south of town. GFD found nothing of the sort and returned to station at 7:34 p.m.

* At 3:16 p.m. on Saturday, GFD assisted in the cleanup and removal of a downed-tree in the roadway on County Road 275 East.

* At 3:37 p.m. on Saturday, GFD was disregarded en route after responding to another downed-tree at the intersection of Rockville Road and Elizabeth Street.

* At 7:53 p.m. on Saturday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 209 W. Liberty St. GFD determined water to be present in the alarm system's detector head and returned to station at 8:19 p.m.

* At 4:04 a.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 2632 Lakeview Dr. but was disregarded en route at 4:09 a.m. once Cloverdale Fire Department took over the call.

* At 8:29 a.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 522 Anderson St. GFD was unable to determine the cause of the alarm and returned to station at 8:43 a.m. after no problem was found.

* At 7:56 p.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 107 W. Hanna St. GFD determined the alarm had been set off due to air freshener and returned to station at 8:06 p.m.

* At 1:42 a.m. on Monday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 208 E. Olive St. The alarm had been set off due to cooking. GFD reset the alarm and returned to station at 1:57 a.m.
