Deer Creek sets youth turkey hunting workshop

Deer Creek Fish and Wildlife Area will be holding a Youth Turkey Hunting Workshop on April 22-23, along with April 23 and 24.

The first day of the workshop will include a regulation and hunting safety discussion, hunting guide introduction and equipment discussion, along with target shooting.

Day two will be the turkey hunt. Participant check-in will begin at 5:30 a.m. the day of the hunt and the hunt will end at noon each day.

The workshop is designed for first-time youth turkey hunters and youth who have never hunted before. Lunch will be provided after the hunt.

Provided Equipment:

* Youth 20 gauge shotguns with ammo

* Ground blind

* Turkey decoy(s)

Online pre-registration is required due to limited space so sign up quickly. Go to the DNR calendar and register by April 17 at www.in.gov/activecalendar_dnr/EventList.aspx?fromdate=4/12/2016&todate=4/11/2017...

Once on the DNR calendar page, scroll to find the Deer Creek youth turkey hunt and choose either April 23 or 24 as the day to hunt, click on that day, and register by clicking the red register icon at the top right hand side of the new page that opens after clicking on the day.
