Sunday, April 17, 2016

Putnam County Treasurer Sharon Owens reminds taxpayers that the spring installment of property tax is due Tuesday, May 10.

Property tax payments should be mailed to Putnam County Treasurer, P.O. Box 508, Greencastle, IN 46135.

Property tax may also be paid at the following banks: Old National Bank, First National Bank, North Salem State Bank or Tri-County Bank. The property tax statement must be provided in order for banks to process tax payments.

Payments are also welcomed in the Putnam County Treasurer's Office, located on the second floor of the Putnam County Courthouse. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

Treasurer Owens will also accept partial payments, however there will be a penalty added after the due date on the unpaid balance. Partial payments may be mailed or paid in the office year round.

For anyone who prefers to make the tax payment by debit card, credit card or by eCheck, the information to do so is provided on the tax statement. There is a processing fee to use the online or phone payment option.

No credit or debit card payments are accepted in the Treasurer's Office.

All payments, if mailed, must be postmarked by Tuesday, May 10 to avoid a late penalty charge.

Also a reminder to Heritage Lake property owners that the May exceptional benefit payment is also due on Tuesday, May 10.
