The Greencastle City Council will make one of its two appointments to the Greencastle Community Schools Board of Trustees at the June 14 meeting of the Council.

The four-year term in question, the seat currently filled by Denise Sigworth, will commence on July 1, 2016 and continue until June 30, 2020.

Applications for the appointment are available at City Hall, 1 N. Locust St., and also on the cityofgreencastle.com website.

Completed applications will be accepted at City Hall until noon Friday, May 6.

In addition to providing name, address, telephone number and email address, the application asks that candidates submit a cover letter accompanied by two letters of recommendation.

Applicants are also asked to answer four questions posed by Council members:

-- What are the greatest strengths you would bring as a member of the Greencastle Community School Corporation Board of Trustees?

-- What goals would you pursue as a member of the Greencastle Community School Corporation Board of Trustees?

-- What is the ideal relationship between the school corporation and the City of Greencastle? How can this relationship be improved?

-- Is there anything else you would like to share with the members of the City Council about your qualifications for the position?

Candidate interviews with the City Council will be scheduled at a later date. Interested persons must reside within the city limits to be considered.

If Sigworth wishes to continue on the school board, she must make application the same as any other interested party.

Sigworth was appointed by the school board in June 2012 to succeed City Council appointee Monica Fennell who had resigned.

The school board seat is one of two representing residents within the city limits of Greencastle on the appointed GCSC board. The Council's other appointee is Lisa Lazar, who was named to succeed Bill Tobin on the board in June 2014 and will serve until June 30, 2018.

Other members of the appointed GCSC board are Dale Pierce, appointed by the Madison Township Advisory Board, and Gary Haussin and Michael White, both appointed by the Greencastle Township Advisory Board.
