County Jail

Six people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 9:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Tyler Warren Edwards, 22, Greencastle, was arrested on a warrant.

At 10:15 p.m. Trevor Morlan, 31, Terre Haute, was lodged at the jail on a warrant.

At 10:15 p.m. Michael Allan Taylor, 49, Bloomington, was booked in on a warrant.

* At 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sean Patrick McClamroch, 36, Waveland, was taken into custody on a warrant.

* At 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, Justin Ray Sims, 27, Greencastle, was charged with domestic battery and domestic battery with a child present.

At 2:16 p.m. Justin Philip Delp, 27, Cloverdale, was housed at the jail on a warrant.

City Police

One property-damage accident was investigated Thursday afternoon by Greencastle City Police officers.

* At 4:11 p.m., a two-vehicle mishap occurred at Percy Julian Drive and Washington Street/Avenue D on the city's East Side.

Officer Nick Eastham reported that Jennifer Lien, 51, Greencastle, was southbound on Percy Julian, driving a 2015 Nissan, while Joseph Jones, 32, Poland, was eastbound on Washington Street, turning left onto Percy Julian to go north in a 1997 Jeep Cherokee when a collision occurred.

Total damage was estimated at $2,500-$5,000.

Sheriff's Department

Putnam County Sheriff's department personnel responded to three recent property-damage crashes.

* At 1:40 p.m. on Wednesday, Cole Thomas Bengimen Cooper, 23, Centerpoint, was westbound on State Road 43 at County Road 1000 South in a 2005 Saturn Ion.

Cooper told Capt. Tom Helmer that as he tried to negotiate a 90-degree curve in the road, a small animal ran into his path. He tried to avoid the animal but due to lack of tread on his tires, he lost control.

The car crossed the oncoming lane and left the road, striking two highway signs.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 9:42 p.m. on Monday, Haley N. Surpas, 22, Bainbridge, was eastbound on Range Line Road near County Road 675 East in a 2007 Honda Accord when she hit a deer.

Deputy Mike Downing estimated damage at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 1:10 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, Katherine Leinenbach, 20, Newburgh, was northbound on U.S. 231 in Cloverdale in a 2012 Honda Accord. Leinenbach told Lambert she was stopped in traffic as a car in front of her waited to turn left.

Brittany Saul, 19, Cloverdale, was also northbound in a 2011 Mitsubishi Eclipse. She did not realize traffic was completely stopped and rear-ended Leinenbach's vehicle.

Impact pushed Leinenbach's car into the vehicle in front of her. However, this driver inspected the vehicle and determined there was no damage, leaving the scene before police arrived.

Leinenbach's car was damaged in front and back. Saul's vehicle had front-end damage only. Both could be driven from the scene.

Damage was estimated $1,001-$2,500.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department recently responded to nine dispatches, two medical assists and one lift assist.

* At 8:05 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD responded to downed power lines at the intersection of U.S. 231 South and East County Road 350 South. A tree had fallen on electrical lines, spreading them across the roadway in the process. GFD removed the debris from the roadway and returned to station.

* At 8:34 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at the Putnam County Hospital on the fourth floor in room number 420. GFD determined it to be a false alarm after no alarm was found upon arrival.

* At 11:10 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was disregarded while en route to the Putnam County Hospital.

* At 2:47 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD performed an animal rescue at 30 Frazier St. A cat was stuck in a tree. GFD retrieved the animal and returned to station at 3:38 p.m.

* At 4:12 a.m. on Thursday, GFD was disregarded while en route to 301 E. Seminary St. for a fire alarm.

* At 5:15 a.m. on Thursday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 6 E. Washington St. No alarm was found upon arrival. GFD returned to station at 5:20 p.m.

* At 11:22 a.m. on Thursday, GFD performed an odor investigation, finding nothing, at 800 N. Madison St.

* At 12:59 a.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 807 S. College Ave. The alarm was determined to have been set off by the unnecessary activation of an extinguisher located in the basement of the building.

* At 6:28 a.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a fire alarm due to cooking at 106 Spring St.
