Cougars sweep titles in county MS track
North Putnam both hosted and swept the Putnam County middle school track meets on Thursday evening.
The Cougars easily won the boys' meet by 26 points over runnerup South Putnam and edged Greencastle by two points in the girls' competition.
North Putnam's Scott Proctor went undefeated on the evening, winning the 100- and 200-meter dashes, the 110 hurdles and the long jump.
Steven Schnepp of South Putnam was the only other individual double winner, taking first in the 800- and 2,400-meter run events.
Other individual winners were South Putnam's Karl Egold in the 1,600, Greencastle's Hector Lezama in the 400, Cloverdale's Brett Batchelor in the shot put, South Putnam's Kain Gregory in the high jump and Patterson of North Putnam in the discus.
South Putnam won both relay races, as Schnepp, Gregory, Trey Blaydes and Brach Carrington won the 4x400 event and Gregory, Michael LeBlanc, Hayden Switzer and Daniel Johnson won the 4x100 relay.
In the girls' meet, Kenzie Stoltz won the 100-meter dash and the high jump, while Lilly Vittetow captured both the 800- and 1,600-meter runs and Allison Stevens of Greencastle won the discus and the long jump.
Individual winners were Lexi Vanihel of South Putnam in the 2,400, Hannah Sims of North Putnam in the 100 hurdles, Reghan Christy of North Putnam in the 200, Bre Mahoney-Sutherland in the shot put and Nobles of Greencastle in the 400.
North Putnam won both relay events as Sims and Carrie Strasburger competed on both squads. Christy and Josie Lyons made up the remainder of the 4x100 squad, while Haley Dickson and Zoey Dickson completed the 4x400 team.
