A horse-riding aficionado since the age of six, South Putnam senior Dylan Watson (front, center) signs with Missouri Valley College Thursday with intentions to join the school's award-winning rodeo program. Surrounded by his family and future coach, Watson fils out, what is believed to be, the first-ever Putnam County student-recruitment signing for rodeo. Watson, a long-time football player and swimmer, has been to the National High School Finals four years running and plans to "attend" again in 2016. Looking on Thursday are brother Lane Watson (clockwise, from left), father Neal Watson, mother Nikki Watson, Missouri Valley College coach Ken Mason and grandfather Jack Overshiner (himself a career rodeo announcer). Not pictured is Watson's younger sister Ava.
