Clyde K Stringer Jr., 67, of Terre Haute, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2016 at 5:08 p.m. in Union Hospital.

Clyde was a former teacher with the Vigo County School Corporation and a computer technician with H.R. Block.

He was born on Feb. 3, 1949 in Greencastle to Clyde Stringer Sr and Julia (Baker) Stringer.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda (Applegate) Stringer of Terre Haute; a son, Geoffrey Stringer and girlfriend Marci Hartwig of Carleton, Mich.; a daughter, Mercedes (Chris) Eden of Sheridan; and three grandchildren, Alexis Stringer, Andrew Eden and Wyatt Eden.

Clyde is also survived by his father, Clyde Stringer Sr.; a brother, Harvey Stringer (Belinda) and a sister, Samantha Stringer.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Julia Stringer.

He was an U.S. Army veteran having served during the Vietnam War, stationed in Germany.

Clyde was a member, former state president, recording secretary and teen director of the Family Campers and RVers. He was also active in the NRA and Cloverdale Conservation Club.

He was very involved with the high school theater groups at North Vigo High School and South Vermilion High School.

Clyde was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, shooting and hunting, especially deer and wild turkey.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 4-8 p.m. at Samaritan Funeral Home, 2425 Wabash Ave., Terre Haute.

Graveside services with military honors will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 1 at Stilesville Cemetery in Stilesville with Pastor Josh Fitzsimmons officiating.

Family and friends are invited to gather at the family farm after the graveside services.
