War Radio

The 23rd season of ParkFest, sponsored by the Greencastle Civic League, begins Tuesday evening with family night.

The weekly free concert series runs from 6:30-8 p.m. at Robe-Ann Park and this week features War Radio and friends.

As part of family night, Big Bounce Fun House Rentals will be on hand with bounce houses, face painting, popcorn, snow cones and more.

Food will be available for sale from Anthony's Pizza, which will sell food every week for ParkFest.

Local favorites with an increasingly regional following, War Radio describes itself as "challenging the musical mundane." With a unique sound that reflects indie rock, soul, and melody, the four-piece looks to push past entertainment a dive headfirst into something more special.

Currently preparing to release its second full-length album, War Radio is busy touring and engaging audiences with their diverse original songs. Featured as an Indy RAW artist in 2015, playing shows at the Old National Center, opening for Jennie DeVoe, and wooing college students across Indiana, with more than 300 shows per year, they are making waves.

The heartbeat of their signature sound derives from being raised in small towns, and relying on music as the outlet to a bigger world. Dreaming up new worlds, imagining the unknown, and envisioning the impossible are clearly seen in the lyrics of their original songs. Their influences from Sam Cooke to Ray LaMontagne, Florence + The Machine to David Gray are echoed within the music.

ParkFest sponsors for 2015 include: Top level -- Friends of the Park, Greencastle Hometown Dental, York Automotive Family, Heartland Automotive and Hickory Creek at Sunset; and Second level -- Almost Home, Bittles and Hurt, BPO Elks No. 1077, Cash Concrete, Concepts The Cabinet Shop Inc., Dale W Oliver DDS, DePauw University, Dever Distributing Company/Budweiser, ETA International, Greencastle Pediatric Dentistry, Headley Do-It Best Hardware, Hendricks Power, HMSB Insurance, Hopkins- Rector Funeral Home, Rotary, Subway (Estep and Company) and Walmart Distribution Center.
