Nancy Mark named Convention and Visitor Bureau director

Thursday, June 2, 2016

The Putnam County Convention and Visitor Bureau Inc. (PCCVB) on Thursday announced the appointment of its new Executive Director, Nancy C. Mark.

Mark is a native of Putnam County, attended Indiana State University, and is delighted to come "home" after 25-plus years serving companies around the country in high-level marketing positions.

Mark has been instrumental in providing counsel to many not-for-profit economic development and tourism-related boards of directors and has advanced experience in digital media. Her Internet and social media expertise will serve the PCCVB in ways that will be influential to the bureau's mission of establishing an online competitive marketing presence.

"This skilled professional will provide Putnam County with a great deal of intelligence to move the county toward its goal of optimizing visitor spending and fortifying the economic fabric of the community," said Rick Patel, PCCVB board president.

During the hiring process, the PCCVB has also found a great deal of local talent that may contribute to the re-imagining of Putnam County's tourism program. Along with the PCCVB board, Mark may soon be seeking interns and volunteers to provide experiential material and e-marketing expertise.

A welcoming event will be held in July 2016. The public will be invited to attend and meet the new Putnam County tourism staff.

Nearly a year has passed since the PCCVB board voted to remove the former executive director and assistant director in mid-June of 2015.

Lynne Fuller has run the day-to-day operations as interim director since August.

The shakeup at the CVB came after a total reorganization of the board in the spring of 2015.
