California trio arrested for multiple drugs found during traffic stop on I-70

CLOVERDALE -- Three California men were arrested Thursday after their eastbound truck was stopped near the 41-mile marker of Interstate 70 at Cloverdale, Indiana State Police at Putnamville reported.

Trooper Yan Dravigne, the department's commercial vehicle enforcement officer, made the 4:33 p.m. traffic stop after reportedly observing the white Ford box truck impeding the flow on traffic on the interstate.

During a commercial vehicle inspection of the truck and conversations with the three occupants, Dravigne reported noticing indicators of possible criminal activity.

A search of the vehicle subsequently yielded 255 grams of psychedelic mushrooms; 17 grams of cocaine; 16 grams of marijuana; one gram of methamphetamine; six grams of MDMA; 11 sublingual hits of acid; 175 Schedule II controlled substance prescription tablets; $340 cash and assorted drug paraphernalia.

Arrested were the driver, David Marriott, 30, of Bellflower, Calif.; Paul Olaechea, 26, of Commerce, Calif., and Jordan Pollard, 25, of Los Angeles.

All three were incarcerated in the Putnam County Jail under identical charges of possession of cocaine more than 10 grams, dealing in a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a common nuisance.

The truck is registered to an individual in Los Angeles.

The Californians were also cited for several federal motor carrier safety violations, State Police reported.

Assisting in the investigation were ISP Troopers David Cox Jr. and Ian Portteus and Putnam County Sheriff's Deputy Maj. Dwight Simmons.
