Brazil Concert Band to feature Hoosier flavor Sunday

BRAZIL -- The Brazil Concert Band will present "Hoosier Band: Forest Park Brigade" on Sunday, June 12, beginning at 8 p.m. rain or shine.

Director Matthew S. Huber and the band will celebrate the Indiana Bicentennial with "Forest Park Brigade" by Indiana composer Malinda Zenor who wrote the march for the BCB in 2002 along with "On the Banks of the Wabash" by fellow Hoosier Paul Dresser and "Bugles And Drums" by Edwin Franko Goldman who spent his early childhood in Terre Haute.

New to the BCB is "Welsh Folk Suite" by Albert Davis with well known tunes from Wales such as "Jenny Jones," "All through The Night" and "Men Of Harlech." Brazil Band euphonium player John Huber earned his Master's Degree in Cardiff, Wales

From the pen of French composer Jacques Offenbach, the BCB offers "Themes From La Belle Helene" arranged by Jim Mahaffey.

The Broadway selection of the week is "Carnival" by Bob Merrill in a setting by Robert Hawkins.

From Agent 007 comes "Bond, James Bond" arranged by Stephen Bulla with "Goldfinger," "Nobody Does It Better," "Skyfall" and "Live And Let Die."

Also on tap are "Aunt Columbia And Uncle Sam" by Stephen Kent Goodman, "From Tropic to Tropic" by Russell Alexander and Sousa's "George Washington Bicentennial."
