County Jail

Eleven people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 5:32 p.m. on Wednesday, Chad Ray Bryson, 42, Greencastle, was taken into custody on a warrant for nonsupport of a dependent.

At 4:35 p.m. Jose Santos Rangel, 34, Charlestown, was housed at the jail for theft.

At 3:27 p.m. Kyle Alan McCammon, 28, Cloverdale, was booked in for violation of home detention.

At 3:25 p.m. Hickory Lynn Smith, 24, Brazil, was charged with theft.

* At 11:21 p.m. on Tuesday, Samuel Joseph Weekly, 36, Cloverdale, was lodged at the jail for invasion of privacy and criminal trespass.

At 6:03 p.m. Nicholas Anthony Smith, 19, Indianapolis, was arrested on a warrant.

At 5:50 p.m. Brian Wayne Roberts, 48, Seymour, was taken into custody on a warrant.

At 4:25 p.m. George Russell Thomas Perry, 40, North Vernon, was housed at the jail on a warrant.

At 10:59 a.m. Michael L. Sadler, 60, Gosport, was booked in on a warrant.

At 10 a.m. Amanda Louise Hill, 38, Indianapolis, was charged with probation violaiton.

At 2:01 a.m. Thomas Lee Gorham, 36, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail on a Morgan County warrant.

City Police

Greencastle City Police officers issued four recent traffic citations.

* At 3:32 p.m. Sunday, Dustin York, 24, Greencastle, was ticketed by Reserve Officer Billy Wallace.

York was cited for disregarding a stopsign on Percy Julian Drive.

* At 2:52 p.m Sunday, Terri Bartlett, 42, Jamestown, was ticketed for speeding by Officer Nick Eastham.

Stopped on Fillmore Road, Bartlett was cited for 55 mph in a 30-mph zone.

* At 9:22 a.m. Sunday, Hana Sampson, 24, Greencastle, was cited for speeding by Offficer Eastham.

Sampson was stopped on Fillmore Road for 54 mph in a 30-mph zone.

* At 7:41 a.m. June 3, Josiah Smith, 19, Bainbridge, was ticketed for speeding on Fillmore Road.

Stopped by Officer Eastham, Smith was cited for 52 mph in a 30-mph zone.

Sheriff's Department

Putnam County Sheriff's department personnel responded to seven recent property-damage accidents.

* At 2:29 a.m. on Thursday, David L. Thomas II, 24, Greencastle, was eastbound on U.S. 36 in a 2002 Lexus IS300. Thomas told Sgt. Kyle Gibbons he fell asleep and his vehicle left the road.

The vehicle traveled through the westbound lane and made front end impact into a ditch on the west side of the road. The car then rolled several times before coming to rest on its top in the middle of the road.

No injuries were reported.

The vehicle was towed. Damage was estimated at $10,001-$25,000.

Gibbons was assisted by Deputy Elizabeth Campbell.

* At 9:55 a.m. on Tuesday, Brian E. Toevs, 54, Terre Haute, was eastbound on Interstate 70 in a 2011 Ford Escape.

Toevs told Capt. Tom Helmer that as the vehicle was approaching the U.S. 231 overpass the hood became unsecured and flew up, striking and shattering the windshield. It also damaged the roof.

Toevs was able to drive the vehicle to the median just east of the overpass without further damage.

No injuries were reported.

The vehicle was towed. Damage was $2,501-$5,000.

Deputy Scott Ducker assisted.

* At 8:33 p.m. on Monday, Rosanne M. Densmore, 60, Cloverdale, was eastbound on Market Street in Cloverdale in a 1999 Jeep Cherokee. Malaressa L. Patton, 18, Spencer, was westbound on Market Street in a 1997 Honda Accord.

Densmore told Deputy Mike Downing that as she approached the intersection of U.S. 231, Patton's vehicle turned in front of her. Unable to stop, she made front-end impact with Patton's car before veering into a concrete wall head-on.

Patton told Downing she was making the left turn when she noticed Densmore's vehicle accelerating quickly toward the intersection and hitting her vehicle.

A witness in a vehicle behind Densmore's said Patton turned in front of Densmore.

Both vehicles were towed. Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

* At 12:38 p.m. on Sunday, Shylah D. Jones Roberts, 38, Staunton, was eastbound on County Road 1000 South in a 2007 Buick Rendezvous. Jacob Wise, 27, Brazil, was northbound on County Road 900 West in a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado.

Jones Roberts told Deputy Jeffery Freeman she came to the 900 West intersection and came to a stop. Believing the intersection to be a four-way stop, she proceeded through the intersection.

When Jones Roberts entered the intersection, Wise was unable to avoid a collision.

Neither driver was injured and both vehicles were driven from the scene.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,5000. Deputy Virgil Lanning assisted at the scene.

* At 7:05 a.m. on Sunday, Kyle J. Tengson, 20, Indianapolis, was northbound on U.S. 231 just north of U.S. 40 in a 2010 Nissan Visa. Tengson told Deputy Freeman he "blacked out," later saying he fell asleep.

The vehicle left the road, entered a culvert and hit a tree head-on.

Tengson got himself out of the vehicle but was taken to Terre Haute Regional Hosptial for his injuries.

Damage was estimated at $10,001-$25,000. Deputy Lanning assisted.

* At 4:47 p.m. on Saturday, Quentin M. Thompson, 20, Greencastle, was eastbound on U.S. 36 in a 2001 Dodge Stratus. Thompson told Freeman he lost control on wet pavement.

The vehicle left the road, spun arround and came to rest facing northbound in a ditch on the north side of the road.

Thompson was not injured.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000. The car was towed.

* At 9:20 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1, Sharon M. Dillon, 71, Pinellas Park, Fla., was backing a 2005 Chrystler 300C out of the driveway onto U.S. 40 near Apple Blossom Road. Daniel A. Justiano, 31, Russelville, was backing a 2001 International straight truck registered to Republic Services in order to load a dumpster.

Dillon told Deputy Ducker she did not see the garbage truck and backed into it.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.
