Juliet 'Judy' Coleman

Juliet "Judy" Coleman, 91, of rural Waveland, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2016 with family at her side at Clinton Gardens in Clinton.

She was born at home on June 14, 1924 in Greene Township in Parke County. She was the daughter of Fred and Jessie Heslar Spencer.

She was a graduate of Greene Township High School and Central Normal College in Danville, where she majored in music.

She and her husband Kenneth and daughters enjoyed many years entertaining family, church and community with their singing and hand bells.

Judy was a member of the Waveland Covenant United Methodist Church, where she served as choir director, organist and president of the United Methodist Women's local group.

Survivors include her husband Kenneth, whom she married on June 14, 1947; two daughters, Sylvia (John) Green and Betsy (Joe) Newton of Waveland; one son Rick (Patty) Coleman of San Antonio; and three grandchildren Matt Green, Nancy Coleman and Eric Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 13 at Machledt & Servies Funeral Home, Waveland, with Pastor William Pike officiating. Burial will follow in Bethany Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions in Judy's memory may be made to National Organization for Victims Assistance (NOVA). Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
