TERRE HAUTE -- Neither game was particularly close at Terre Haute North on Saturday night as the Wabash Valley Officials Association hosted a pair of all-star basketball games featuring players from schools as far north as Western Boone all the way down to South Knox.

But having close games wasn't the primary goal, as the games culminated a two-day event that began on Friday night with a banquet for all players in the game at the Country Club of Terre Haute.

Raising money for the WVOA scholarship fund was the main goal, and the organization did that through gate admissions, various promotions during the game and advertising sales for the game program..

Treyton Smith of North Putnam goes to the basket against South Putnam's Josh Stewart.

On Friday at the banquet, the Wabash Valley Officials Association awarded $1,000 scholarships to Nathan Eckerle of Eastern Greene and Alexis Graves of White River Valley.

Eckerle plans to play basketball at Olivet Nazarene University and study engineering, while Graves will attend Olney Central College and study biology while also playing basketball.

As far as the game went, a pair of lefties dominated the action on the court and walked away with Most Valuable Player honors.

Greencastle's Colin York gets off a jumper against Jalen Moore of Cloverdale during Saturday night's WVOA All-Star game.

Macee Williams of Fountain Central dominated the girls' game, won 76-42 by her North squad, scoring 26 points on 13 of 15 shooting. The 6-foot-1 Williams has led the Mustangs to two consecutive Wabash River Conference titles and has received several Division I offers.

Cloverdale's Jalen Moore hit 8 of 11 3-point field goals on his way to a 30-point night to lead all scorers.

Moore will be a junior this upcoming basketball season and will team with Butler-bound Cooper Neese to form a strong 1-2 punch.

Other Putnam County players in the boys' game were Treyton Smith of North Putnam, Josh Stewart of South Putnam and Colin York of Greencastle.

Competing in the girls' game were Paige Bragg of Greencastle and Jessica Modglin of South Putnam.
