Football

* South Putnam blood drive -- South Football has announced a continuation of its relationship with the Indiana Blood Center and the Indianapolis Colts, and has another blood drive set for this summer.

The annual blood drive service project will take place at the Putnam County Fairgrounds on July 2 from 1-6 p.m.

"We look forward to having another successful event," coach Nathan Aker said. "Last year we had over 30 donors, and we would like to continue to build upon that number. We are very grateful that our community has always stepped up to help out those in need."

* South Putnam sets camp dates -- South Putnam will host two football camps in July.

The youth camp for incoming students in grades K-6 will be July 11-14 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wildman Field.

Incoming seventh- and eighth-graders will have a middle school camp July 18-21 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wildman Field.

The cost for each camp is $25.

Running/walking

* Rokicki event set for July 4 -- The Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department will have the annual 5K Road Run on July 4 in honor of longtime parks department advocate Mike Rokicki.

The event, also known as the Castle Classic, will begin at 7 a.m. with registration and the race will begin at 8.

Entry fee is $20 through the pre-registration deadline of July 1.

Registration forms are available at Greencastle Pediatric Dentistry, Putnam County Public Library, Greencastle City Hall and the Greencastle Aquatics Center.

* Greencastle coaching positions -- Greencastle High School is accepting applications for varsity coaches in boys' and girls' cross country and track.

Anyone interested should send a letter of interest and resume to athletic director Greg Hill at ghill@greencastle.k12.in.us.


Golf

* Purdue Club Outing set for June 22 -- The Purdue Club of Putnam County will hold its 18th annual golf outing on June 22 at Windy Hill County Club.

Registration will begin at 11 a.m. followed by lunch at 11:30. Golf will begin with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m.

Registration forms are available at Windy Hill Country Club or from Rodger Winger at (765) 386-6219 or 178 Mill Springs, Coatesville or Jerry Williams at (765) 653-3523 or 507 Ritter Ave., Greencastle.

Following the golf, a 7 p.m. dinner at Autumn Glen will feature the club's scholarship recipients and Purdue guests.

Cost of the dinner is $20 per person. Cost of the golf outing is $50 per person or $200 per team and reservations should be made by Friday, June 17 with Winger or Williams. Hole sponsorships are also available for $100 (gold) and $50 (black).

All proceeds from the golf outing are used to support the Purdue Club's scholarship fund at the Putnam County Community Foundation.

Since the inception of its scholarship program, the Purdue Club has awarded $27,000 to 45 Putnam County students attending Purdue University.


Swimming

* Summer program set -- The June 20-July 1 learn-to-swim classes are still open for anyone interested who may have missed registration.

Please come to the pool any day between 9 a.m. and noon, to register. The registration form can be found under the "Eagles HQ" tab.

Open lap swim will also be available during the month of June on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m.-10 a.m..
