Vigil for Orlando victims set for 7 p.m. Thursday at DePauw

Wednesday, June 15, 2016

A communty vigil in memory of the victims of the June 12 Orlando shooting incident is planned for 7-8 p.m. Thursday at DePauw University.

The vigil is scheduled for 7-8 p.m. on the lawn of Ubben Quad in front of Reese Hall (across Locust Street from the main entrance to the Union Building).

Student Jack Selke is organizing the event which is being geared more toward the community since few students are on campus this time of year.

Names of the Orlando shooting victims will be read and members of the community will be encouraged to speak. There will not be a featured speaker.

The attack -- the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history -- occurred early Sunday at The Pulse gay nightclub in Orlando, killing 49 people and wounding more than 50 others.

Anyone with questions about the vigil may call Christina at the Hartman House (658-4615).
