Greencastle area children to receive free dental care July 15

Monday, July 11, 2016

Local children will have the opportunity to receive free dental services from Dr. John Wadas, Dr. Samantha Blaha and their dental team at Dental Care of Greencastle as part of Kids' Free Dentistry Day.

The event will take place on Friday, July 15 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Dental Care of Greencastle office, 1012 Mill Pond Drive, Suite A.

Exams, X-rays and cleanings will be offered. Persons are asked to call ahead to reserve an appointment at 765-630-3170.

Nearly one in four children between the ages of 2 to 11 years has untreated cavities in primary teeth, according to the Center for Disease Control. Unfortunately, children are not visiting a dentist near often enough to treat decay in its early stages.

"It's unfortunate that so many children have enough decay in their primary teeth that the only solution is multiple crowns or pulling teeth that can no longer be saved," Dr. Wadas said. "We look at Kid's Free Dentistry Day as a way to provide important preventative care to children in our community, as well as educate them on the importance of having a good oral hygiene regimen."
