Fireworks July 2 at Raccoon SRA

Raccoon State Recreation Area will have its annual Beach Bash and fireworks display on Saturday, July 2.

The fireworks display this year will be the largest ever held at Raccoon SRA. It will celebrate not only Independence Day, but also Indiana State Parks' 100th anniversary and the 200th anniversary of Indiana statehood.

Festivities begin at 10 a.m. with a crafts for children. Games begin at 1 p.m. and including tug-of-war and whiffle ball. The annual Big Bang Cornhole tournament starts at 5 p.m. at the beach hill parking lot.

Fireworks begin at dusk. The show is sponsored by Raccoon SRA, the Bellmore Volunteer Fire Department and the Raccoon Lake/Union Township Property Owners Association.

The fireworks show is paid for entirely by donations from the community and park visitors. Anyone interested in donating should contact Mike Clingerman, Raccoon SRA property manager, or Ross Plotkin, interpretive naturalist, at (765) 344-1412.
