City Police

An early morning accident Thursday on the edge of the McDonald's property on Indianapolis Road resulted in the arrest of a passenger and a citation for the driver, Greencastle City Police reported.

Officer Elsiana Crosby reportedly rolled up on the situation just west of the McDonald's entrance, finding a car driven by Madison Featherson, 18, Terre Haute, stuck on a drainage pipe in the area between the restaurant and the residence to the west.

Crosby reported that the Featherson car had no reverse gear, and when the teenager turned into the driveway of the adjacent residence by mistake, she apparently thought she could drive over the grassy area around the drainage swale but wound up stuck on the pipe.

Featherson was cited for having a false or fictitious registration.

Her passenger, James Goodwin, 19, Greencastle, was charged with being a minor in consumption of alcohol.

Goodwin registered a blood-alcohol content of .246 percent, more than three times the legal limit of intoxication of .08 percent.

Two other recent traffic accidents were investigated by Greencastle officers.

* At 10:48 a.m. Wednesday, a two-vehicle accident occurred on the west side of the courthouse square as Dusan Lucic, 42, Indian Head Park, Ill., attempted to turn northbound onto Jackson Street from Washington Street in a 2003 Freightliner semi.

Barbara Masten, 66, Greencastle, was driving a 2015 Honda CRV, waiting in the right turn lane on Washington Street to go north on Jackson Street as well. When the semi turned right, it struck Masten's vehicle in the driver's side, causing front fender and door damage.

Lucic told Officer Kyle Lee that he had the green arrow to turn right and that the Masten vehicle must have been in his blindspot when he did so.

Total damage was estimated at $2,500-$5,000.

* At 5:38 p.m. Tuesday, Indianapolis Road was the scene of a property-damage accident east of Percy Julian Drive near Greenwood Drive.

Officer Nick Eastham reported that a 2002 Chevrolet truck, driven by Joshua Sims, 40, Greencastle, was struck from behind by a 2003 Mercury, driven by Jacob Gaddis, 19, Bainbridge.

Impact pushed the Sims truck into a third vehicle, which left the scene before police arrived.

Total damage in the mishap was estimated at $1,000-$2,500.

One recent citation was issued by city officers.

* At 7:31 a.m. Friday, Slade Spudes, 24, Greencastle, was cited by Officer Nick Eastham.

Stopped on Fillmore Road, Spudes was cited for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.
