Pair of Democrats file to run for county office

Tuesday, June 28, 2016

With days remaining until the filing deadline, a pair of Democrats are finally set to run for county office in the Nov. 8 general election.

Nancy Wells

On Monday morning, Nancy Wells filed to run for District 3 county commissioner.

On Thursday, Wally Steele signed on to seek the office of county coroner.

Steele, of Cloverdale, faces Republican incumbent Dave Brown. Wells, of the Belle Union area, is running against GOP incumbent Don Walton.

Wells is no stranger to elected office, having spent 20 years (five terms) on the South Putnam School Board, ending in 2013.

All Democrats and independents must have the necessary paperwork to run for county office filed with the Voter Registration Office by noon on Thursday.
