Time for the Clock Award

Friday, July 1, 2016
At the recent Indiana Retired Teachers Association Representative Assembly, Greencastle resident Lucy Wieland is presented with the Clock Award, which is the top community service award for Putnam County and Area 4, as determined by the Indiana Retired Teachers Association. Presenting the award is Sudi Naraine Indiana state director for the Association Member Benefits Advisers (AMBA). Active in her community in adult and youth organizations, Wieland is extremely proud of her many hours as a CASA volunteer for the local juvenile courts. She is active in many areas with her church and oversees the collection and distribution of non-food items to those in need. She enjoys using her skills as an educator by assisting in the Reading Improvement Program and staying active as a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, an organization of active and retired teachers. • Congratulations to Lucy and to the committee for making such a wise choice- Lucy has saved so many children and so many parents in this community and her contributions to the autism community will reach far and wide for decades. Thanks for your dedication to our children

  • Thank you for your recognition of the volunteer work I do in our community. I'd like to make one correction, however. I was active with the Putnam County Non-Food Pantry when it was first established but never was in charge of it. My volunteer hours have recently been working with other community endeavors. I am grateful to be able to serve this wonderful community.
