Experience pioneer life at Turkey Run July 16

MARSHALL -- Get a taste of life in the 1800s in Indiana during Turkey Run State Park's Pioneer Heritage Festival on Saturday, July 16.

Activities include candle dipping, homemade ice cream, cornhusk doll and crosscut sawing.

Activities will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. near the nature center. A $1-per-person donation is requested.

At 3 p.m., visitors can tour the 1841 Lusk home. A $2-per-person donation is requested. Cellar doors open at 2:45 p.m. Hike or drive to the home.

Songwriter Jack Shannon will sing original music and songs by other artists at 7:30 p.m. at the amphitheater next to the pool. The performance will include tips about songwriting and how to find musical inspiration in nature.

Standard park entrance fees of $7 per in-state vehicle and $9 per out-of-state vehicle apply.

Turkey Run State Park is located at 8121 E. Park Rd., Marshall.
