PCPL taking tour of Peeler gallery Tuesday

Friday, July 15, 2016

DePauw University's Peeler Art Gallery will host a free public tour of the "Heritage Barns: An Artist's Passion" exhibit Tuesday for Putnam County Public Library patrons.

Craig Hadley, director and curator of exhibitions and university collections, will lead a tour of the exhibit, which features paintings by Gwen Gutwein.

The tour will begin at noon.

Participants should meet in the lobby of the Richard E. Peeler Art Center, located at 10 W. Hanna St. (the corner of Hanna and South Jackson streets), Greencastle.

Gutwein, an Indiana artist, started a painting project, "Heritage Barns of Indiana," in 2004. The goal -- now completed -- was to select at least two old and/or historic barns from each of Indiana's 92 counties and paint them, completing most of the works on location.

Her body of work has been honored as a Bicentennial Legacy Project.
