Betty Lou Burdette Michell

Betty Lou Burdette Michell, of Roachdale, at age 89 went to be with the Lord, surrounded by her loving family on July 18, 2016, at Gentiva Hospice Center in San Antonio, Texas.

She was born on March 2, 1927 in Jamestown, Ind., to Samuel Asbury and Ina Ethel Davis Pratt.

Betty Lou attended school in Jamestown, Bainbridge and Roachdale.

She was a member of Roachdale Presbyterian Church, Roachdale Home Economics Club, Order of Eastern Star in Roachdale, an Election Board volunteer and Beta Sigma Phi sorority in Florida.

Betty Lou and her husband John farmed locally for many decades. They owned and operated Golden Years Antiques store in Roachdale.

She enjoyed playing the piano and played with several bands while living in Florida.

Survivors include a daughter, Darla Thornton and her husband, Doug of San Antonio; a son, Kim Burdette and his wife, Beverley of Olympia, Wash.; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Joe, Jessica, Sarah, John and David; 12 great-grandchildren and a nephew, James Dale of Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, two brothers and her husband, John Burdette.

Funeral services were held in San Antonio.

Graveside services will take place in Roachdale Cemetery on Monday, July 25.
