Etta Pearl Hinote

Etta Pearl Hinote, age 104, of Reelsville, passed away on Friday, Aug. 12, 2016.

Born July 16, 1912 in Putnamville, she was the daughter of Harley and Emma (Estep) Head.

She was a 1930 graduate of Greencastle High School.

Etta was a cashier at Lanzone's Stop and Shop Grocery in Greencastle for 27 years, retiring in 1979.

She was a member of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Greencastle; Golden Circle Club of Manhattan, since 1960; 25-year member of the Putnam County Hospital Guild (volunteer in the Gift Shop); and volunteered more than 20 years at the Putnam County Senior Center.

She is survived by her daughter, Beverly DeWeese; sons Charles H. Amers, William Lee (Betty) Amers and Richard H. Amers; stepdaughters Erma Pitts and Reba Morley; daughter-in-law Diane Amers; three grandchildren; five step grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, George Amers and Joseph C. Hinote; her son, John R. Amers; sisters Mary Glover and Louise Johnson, brothers Estel and Olan Head; and son-in-law Eugene DeWeese.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.
