DANVILLE -- South Putnam and Greencastle traveled to Twin Bridges on Thursday evening to compete with Danville in a triangular meet.

The Warriors won with a score of 226, while Greencastle was second with a 241 and South Putnam was third with 261.

Alex Weliever paced the Tiger Cubs with a 54, while Macey Masten added a 57.

"The Tiger Cubs had a tough night with ah late starting time," Greencastle coach Robert Hedge said. "We literally finished in the dark. We had lost several balls, and had some mental breakdowns."

Hedge noted that junior Rose White, a first-year player, had a personal-best round of 69.

South Putnam's Alicia Haywood was runnerup for medalist honors with a 52.

Eagle coach Kevin Metz continues to see improvement in his players.

"While the Eagles finished third, our play was much improved and I was very happy with how we played," Metz said. "The scoring was done a little differently compared to our previous two meets. Our scores were still a little high, but with several of our girls being new to the game this year, they are playing as well as I could ask them to."

Haywood's round was eight strokes lower than her previous round.

"Anna [Carrington], Kate [McCammack] and Leighla [Hazlett] all played well too," Metz added. "Anna seemed a little disappointed with her round, but overall she did very well for us.

"Kate and Leighla both played much better tonight compared to their rounds the night before," Metz said. "They both were positive during and after the round, which is expected when you are playing better."

Danville's Sarah Stiers was the medalist with a 48.

Danville (226) -- Sarah Stiers 48, Brooke Cochran 55, Claire Tollison 60, Jenna Lucas 63, Payton Shores 65.

Greencastle (241) -- Alex Weliever 54, Macey Masten 57, Lindsey Bridgewater 62, Gabby Selvia 69, Rose White 69

South Putnam (261) -- Alicia Haywood 52, Reagan Ladd 62, Leighla Hazlett 71, Kate McCammack 76, Anna Carrington 76

Next matches -- South Putnam plays at Terre Haute South on Monday, while Greencastle hosts Terre Haute North at Windy Hill the same day.

* Dixon gets career best for NP -- On Thursday, North Putnam travelled to Rocky Ridge to play North Montgomery Thursday night.

"The course conditions at Rocky Ridge were a 180-degree turn on what the Cougars played on at Northview [earlier in the week]," NP coach Linda Patrick said. "Going from saturated fairways and puddles of water to dry, hard ground conditions made the players realize how important it is to have wise club selections."

As a result, Patrick said the players were able to get rolls on the ball and the greens were in excellent shape for good putting.

Taylor Dixon carded her best ever score for the Lady Cougars by shooting a 49 and was second medalist for the meet.

"She managed to keep her score low by hitting more greens in regulation, even with having one penalty and three holes with three putts on her scorecard," Patrick said. "Emily Eltz had great putting numbers but trouble getting to the greens in regulation.

Eltz finished with a 60.

The Lady Cougars travel to the Western Boone Invitational today.
