City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department recently responded to four dispatches and one lift assist.

* At 8:46 a.m. on Saturday, GFD responded to a malfunctioning fire alarm at 415 S. Locust St. GFD returned to station at 8:58 a.m.

* At 2:25 p.m. on Saturday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 1303 S. Bloomington St. The alarm was determined to have been set off unnecessarily by dust stirred up from nearby construction work. GFD reset the alarm before returning to station at 2:43 p.m.

* At 1:25 a.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 304 S. Indiana St. The alarm was determined to have been set off unnecessarily by a faulty detector head. GFD reset the alarm before returning to station at 1:49 a.m.

* At 7:37 a.m. on Sunday, GFD performed an elevator rescue at 330 Greenwood Ave. No injuries were reported. GFD subsequently returned to station at 8:06 a.m.
