Featured Athlete of the Week: Trevor Sheldon
Trevor Sheldon is a 6-foot, 200-pound defensive end who has not yet taken the field for the Cougars this year while still recovering from a torn ACL suffered last fall.
Banner Graphic: "What is the status of your injury?"
Trevor Sheldon: "I am still trying to recover from the injury and get stronger, more flexible and faster. I am hopeful to be able to play again this season."
BG: "What do you like best about football?"
TS: "I like being able to hit people. There's no other sport like it where you can go out and hit people, and just lay someone out. You can't do it in basketball or soccer, according to the rules. It's legal in football."
BG: "Have you played any other sports in high school?"
TS: "I used to swim. I did that from sixth grade through my sophomore year of high school."
BG: "What else do you do besides football?"
TS: "I'm in 4-H. I have done projects in woodworking, leather and archery and I have shown sheep and pigs. Some of my projects have made it to the state fair."
BG: "Anything else?"
TS: "I like to get in the weight room and lift. I was in there a lot last year when I couldn't play. I tried to do as much as I could."
BG: "What is your favorite class in school?
TS: "Advanced physical conditioning with Mr. Barrett. We get to lift weights. He really pushes you to do the workouts that he gives you and to do your best. He has been a good role model for me."
BG: "What else do you do around school?"
TS: "I like to go to volleyball games and other sports to cheer our teams on."
BG: "How would you evaluate your time in high school?"
TS: "I have enjoyed high school. It has gone by fast, and I've had a lot of fun. It's just a part of life. You just have to move on."
BG: "What are your plans after high school?"
TS: "I am going into the U.S. Marine Corps. I wanted to serve my country, and thought that was the best opportunity to do that."
BG: "Do you want to be a career military person?"
TS: "That's undecided. I have always wanted to be in the infantry, but I'm still looking at it."
