PUTNAMVILLE -- American Legion Commander Rod Gaffney from the Cassell C. Tucker Post 58 in Greencastle performed a officer dedication of Adam Brown Memorial Post 208 Monday at the Putnamville Correction Facility.

"I am deeply honored to dedicate this post," Gaffney said. "Not all commanders get this honor."

Sons of the American Legion Commander and PCF correctional officer Tony Sparks assisted in the ceremony, placing the Missing In Action/Prisoner Of War Flag on an empty chair to symbolize the presence and remembrance of the missing.

Commander Gaffney installed the first offender officers of the new post, which were elected unanimously by the members. They are: Commander Kevin Thomas; First Vice Commander George Mast; Second Vice Commander Luke Zimmerman; Sergeant at Arms James Strong; Chaplain Daniel Mahan and historian Chad Mise.

The post recently sponsored a Krispy Kreme fundraiser at the facility to pay for its annual dues and will have the opportunity to donate funds to different local and national charity events with other funds raised throughout the year.
