Tuesday, September 6, 2016

The 55th season of Putnam County Playhouse will close with a production of the Neil Simon comedy "The Odd Couple" (Female Version).

It will be presented beginning Thursday, Sept. 8 and continuing Friday and Saturday, Sept. 9-10, followed next week by shows Sept. 14-17. All performances begin at 8 p.m. at the Hazel Day Longden Theatre off Round Barn Road in Greencastle.

Roommates Florence Unger (Meghan Armitage, left) and Olive Madison (Sarah Bond) get their lines crossed in a scene from the Putnam County Playhouse production of "The Odd Couple (Female Version)," opening Thursday, Sept. 8 at the Hazel Day Longden Theatre in Greencastle.

Tickets are $10 and can be reserved by calling the box office at 653-5880 between 5 and 7 p.m. Monday-Saturday, beginning Sept. 5.

The show features Sarah Bond as Olive Madison and Meghan Armitage as Florence Unger. Their combined living arrangement causes conflicts familiar to anyone who has seen the original play, film or television show.

Co-sponsors for the season finale are Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home and Bittles & Hurt Funeral Home.

The comedy also highlights the relationship between the two women and their upstairs neighbors, the Costazuela brothers, Manolo and Jésus, played by Ric McFadden and Dustin Bond.

Friends of the leads are played by Kathy Arnold, Karen Bailey, Allison Creekmore and Katie Wallace.

Directing "The Odd Couple" is Andrew Ranck. Stage manager and props master is Jessica Masner. Set design is by Linda Gjesvold.

Bailey and McFadden appeared in the play when it was first produced by Putnam County Playhouse in 1991. Bailey reprises her role as Mickey the Cop, while McFadden plays the other brother this time around.

Costumer and wigmaster is Shelly McFadden. Set decorator is Aaron Swartz.

Technical support is by Fiona Good running the light board and Cameron Wunderlich on sound.
