Motorcyclist injured in I-70 accident Friday evening

PUTNAMVILLE -- A two-vehicle crash in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 in Putnam County Friday evening sent one man to the hospital with serious injuries.

The accident reportedly occurred at 5 p.m. Friday near the 36-mile marker of I-70, five miles west of Cloverdale.

Indiana State Police and Putnam County emergency agencies responded to the two-vehicle crash and preliminary investigation revealed a 2012 Chevrolet sedan, driven by Anthony D. Tabb, 23, of Indianapolis, was eastbound on I-70 and drove into the rear of a 2004 Kawasaki motorcycle being ridden by Brandon J. McCracken, 24, of Terre Haute.

McCracken was transported to Terre Haute Regional Hospital for treatment of internal injuries that are believed to be serious. He was wearing a motorcycle helmet, State Police said.

Following impact, the Tabb vehicle then continued on for approximately 1.5 miles before crash damage caused the vehicle to come to a stop.

Tabb was not injured, but he was cited for leaving the scene of an accident, having no insurance, driving with a suspended license and reckless driving.

Authorities said Tabb may have disregarded a medical condition warning that should have prohibited him from driving, and that was apparently a contributing factor in the crash.

The crash was investigated by ISP Trooper James Crisp. Assisting were ISP Trooper David Cox Jr., Cloverdale Police, Cloverdale Fire/Rescue and Putnam County Operation Life paramedics.
