Indiana Short Film Festival set for Oct. 7-9 at Danville

DANVILLE – A Central Indiana film festival that continues to grow with record numbers of films submitted (6,000), films featured (105) and Hollywood actors appearing in those films (6) returns Oct. 7-9 to the Royal Theater in Danville.

Tickets for the sixth annual Indiana Short Film Festival, which was voted the Fourth Best Short Film Festival in North America in 2014, are now on sale. The event will take over the Hendricks County Courthouse Square with eight different screenings over the three days, including a family-friendly option at 1 p.m. Saturday that children can attend for free with any library card, a Fright Night showing on Saturday night and a Hoosier-only screening featuring Indiana filmmakers on Sunday.

Actors from hit movies and television shows such as “Star Trek,” “Parenthood,” “Mad Men,” “Heroes” and “Weeds” will be among the actors featured in films during the festival.

The festival’s eight screenings each last around 90 minutes and showcase 12-16 films. The two Hoosier-only showings on Sunday feature 10 films each and are free to attend.

Showings will include various genres such as animation, comedies, documentaries, drama and more. Two showings will be at 7 and 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, with the others featured throughout the day on Saturday, Oct. 8, and the two Hoosier-only showings at 1:30 and 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 9.

Weekend passes can be purchased for $35 for adults and $30 for students with a valid ID. Weekend passes provide full access to the entire festival. Those interested in purchasing a weekend pass should do so early, as there will only be 100 passes available.

Admission to individual showings cost $7 a person for adults and $5 for students with a valid ID.
