Park’s annual ‘Glow Throw’ slated for Saturday

The Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department will stage its annual Glow Throw Saturday, Oct. 1 at Big Walnut Sports Park.

Disc golf enthusiasts will play the city’s 19-hole disc golf course and will be throwing after dark.

Registration starts at 4 p.m. at the shelter on the south side of the park with a rules meeting at 4:45.

Round 1 begins in daylight at 5 p.m., followed by the Round 2 Glow Throw in the dark at 8:15.

All players will receive an official Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department glow-in-the-dark disc, along with a mini-driver tee marker for their player’s pack.

A pre-registration discount ($25 per person) is available and preferred. Fee is $30 at the door or $40 in the open pro division. The first 50 to pre-register will get a T-shirt, Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department stamped glow disc, custom stamped Mini and glow lights.

KFC will be catering lunch/dinner between rounds. Prizes will be awarded, which will include some disc golf supplies.

Closest to the pin contest opportunities will also be available.

All proceeds from the event will be used to help pay for more trees and other course improvements.
