Roachdale set for annual Ribs and Blues Festival

Roachdale’s 2016 Ribs and Blues Festival will be host to several live acts on the Spear Corporation Stage on Saturday, Oct. 1. Featured for music performances will be Andra Faye and The Rays (above) and Blues Side Up with Steve St. Pierre (below), among others.

ROACHDALE -- This Saturday, Oct. 1, the northeastern Putnam community of Roachdale will be hosting its annual Ribs and Blues Festival, located on the town’s north side along Railroad Street.

A stage with live music, a beer and wine garden and, last but certainly not least, a myriad of ribs smoked and grilled on-site by Smokehouse Barbecue will be available.

Beginning at 11 a.m. and running through 11 p.m., the Ribs and Blues Fest will run the length of the day and will feature a local rib competition at 6 p.m. with the entire event being sponsored by Roachdale Revitalization Cooperative Alliance.

Judges for the local rib competition will be: Judge Matt Headley of Putnam CircuitCourt; Craig Allison of Hog’n’ItAll Barbecue; Debbie Sillery, Roachdale Town Clerk; Nancy Mark, executive director of Putnam County Convention and Tourism; and Renato Fagundes, South American tribunal judge of Porto Alegre, Brazil.

Live music featured on the Spear Corporation stage will include Joel and Tosh Everson from 2-4 p.m., Blues Side Up with Steve St. Pierre from 4-6 p.m., Cyrus Youngman and the Kingfishers from 6-8 p.m. and Andra Faye and The Rays from 8-10 p.m.
