Eagle spikers win eighth-grade county title
South Putnams eighth-grade volleyball team won the Putnam County Tourney on Saturday after defeating Greencastle and Cloverdale.
The Eagles defeated Greencastle in three sets by scores of 15-25, 25-13 and 15-7 and then defeated the Clovers 25-15, 25-13 in the championship.
I am so proud of the way the girls played on Saturday, coach Jill Newton said. Coming from behind a beating Greencastle after losing the first game was a total team effort. The girls communicated well all day and really worked together.
