Whitestone to host Southern Raised Band

Southern Raised Band will play a concert at Whitestone Christian Church at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7. Featuring Sarah Reith (banjo), Emily Grace (fiddle and mandolin), Matthew Reith (guitar) and Lindsay Reith (upright bass), the band combines classical music training with their Ozark Mountain upbringing to combine the worlds of Christian, country, bluegrass, Celtic and classical music.

Whitestone Christian Church will host a concert by Southern Raised Band at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 7.

The family band, three sisters and a brother, are from Branson, Mo. The family was trained in classical music but, growing up in the bluegrass-soaked Ozark Mountains, began playing bluegrass eight years ago.

They have created a Southern Raised trademark sound where classical meets bluegrass and city streets meets country roads. The band has created a progressive sound that spans Christian, country, bluegrass, Celtic and classical.

The band features Lindsay Reith on upright bass, Emily Grace on fiddle and mandolin, Matthew Reith on guitar and Sarah Reith on banjo.

Admission to the show at Whitestone is $10 with children younger than 12 free.

At Whitestone, $10 admission is charged and children under 12 are free.

Whitestone Christian Church is located at 8045 West U.S. 36, just west of New Winchester.
