Football sectional pairings drawn; three county teams open at home

The Indiana High School Athletic Association drew pairings on Sunday for the first round of the football sectionals, which begin on Oct. 21.

Greencastle opens at home with West Vigo, a team the Tiger Cubs defeated 30-27 earlier this season.

Cloverdale hosts Cascade in a rematch of an 8-6 game played in Week 4.

North Putnam hosts Paoli, a team the Cougars beat 40-32 in last year’s sectional.

South Putnam opens on the road at Sheridan, whose coach is the winningest in state history.

Volleyball

Clovers finish season — The Cloverdale Middle School 8th grade volleyball team wrapped up its season on Saturday at the WIC tournament at Cascade.

The Lady Clovers fell to a tough Lady Eagles team from Brown County in two sets, 25-10 and 25-19.

Leading servers for the Clovers were Alexa Wynia with eight points and five aces and Autumn Lewellen with eight points.

“Many congratulations for a great game to the rest of the team on Saturday,” coach Katie Mosley said. “The Clovers played a tough match and showed much improvement since the beginning of the season.”

Other team members were Tiffany Wainscott, Asylnn Basore, Lindsey Minton, Aubree Branigan, Sadie Priest, Hailey Gardner, Shelby Neace and Kiara Boyd.
