The Greencastle Kitchen Cabinet Co. made its lovely cabinets in the early 1900s. It is a Hoosier-type kitchen cabinet.

“Hoosier” was the brand name of kitchen cabinets made by the Hoosier Cabinet Co., located in New Castle.

The name “Hoosier” became synonymous with any upright, all-in-one kitchen centers that were marketed as a must-have for busy women.

The Putnam County Museum is seeking additional information about the Greencastle Kitchen Cabinet Co.

Where was it located? Do you have family members who worked there? Do you have ads in old magazines or newspapers for these cabinets or the company?

If so, call the museum at 653-8419 with any information you might have.

Have a research source to suggest? Your suggestions will be welcomed by someone standing by to write an article about these cabinets for the museum’s next newsletter.

By the way, the cabinet and its older sister can be seen daily at the museum, 1105 N. Jackson St., Greencastle.

Museum hours are 1-4 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays.
