The South Putnam Lady Eagles will host the “Volley for the Cure” fundraising event against Greencastle on Thursday.

“We invite the community to come support two local teams coming together to raise money for a worthy cause,” Eagle coach Rachelle Custis said.

Some donations that will be awarded on Thursday evening include a $50 Wal-Mart gift card, $25 gift cards to T & T Nails, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and Myers’ Market, $20 gift card to Outback, Almost Home, and Stone Creek, $10 Maurcies gift card, two $5 Putnam Inn gift cards, 4 passes to Carmike Theater, Monical’s Family Pleasure gift card, Re/Max Cornerstone movie theme basket, Arby’s and Beefcakes coupons, two Hibbett Sports bags, Burdge Boots shirt, Buffalo Wild Wings sauces, Pacesetter Sports gift basket, Game Warehouse game, Goody’s bracelet, Helzberg Diamonds necklace, handmade quilt, towel bears, headbands and scarf and Eitel’s flowers for breast cancer survivors.

Some of the prizes will be in a silent auction, while others are available in a special contest where contestants pay $1 to serve a volleyball and they can win a prize if it hits a cardboard volleyball on the court.

The junior varsity match begins at 6 p.m., with the special activities (including honoring breast cancer survivors) taking place between the JV and varsity matches.
