Paul Edward ‘Pud’ Giddings

Paul Edward “Pud” Giddings, 92, of Greencastle, passed away on Monday, Oct. 3, 2016.

Born July 6, 1924 in Greenfield, the son of Lawrence B. “Pop” and Dorothy M. (Walls) Giddings. Paul was a graduate of Greencastle High School and a veteran, having served in the United States Navy, on the USS Melvin during World War II in the Pacific Theater.

Paul was a contract coordinator and worked in maintenance with IBM for 30 years, retiring March 9, 1984.

He was an avid woodworker (enjoyed making birdhouses), a sports fan, and loved working on all kinds of puzzles. He was a member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife Marian (Bittle-McClaine) Giddings; daughters Deirdre (Ed) Jordling, Teresa (Robert) Acosta and Pam (Bob) Higgins; stepsons Michael (Brenda) McClaine and Fred (Jamie) McClaine; sister-in-law Betty Giddings; six grandchildren, Kevin Jordling, Brian Jordling, Ryan Higgins, Lauren Higgins, Derek Acosta and Kelly Acosta; four step-grandchildren, Matthew McClaine, Meghan Armitage, Maci McClaine and Graysen McClaine; eight great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara (Marvel) Giddings; infant son Dale Giddings and two brothers, Murl and Jim Giddings.

Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 10 at the Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until time of service on Monday at the funeral home.
