County Jail

Four people were booked in the Putnam County Jail Thursday.

• At 3:31 p.m., Cameron Dean King, 22, of Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail on charges of driving with a suspended license.

• At 3:33 p.m., Frank Adam Roche, 26, of Greencastle, was booked into the jail on charges of possession of marijuana.

• At 8:28 p.m., Eric Robert Brenner, no age or city given, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County Sheriff’s department personnel responded to three recent property-damage accident.

• On Sept. 29 at 8:32 a.m., Kimberly Ridge, 44, of Terrell, was southbound on County Road 425 W. when she drifted left of center and nearly hit another vehicle before leaving the roadway on the left side, where she hit a fence. She said she had just left work and was too tired to remember the accident.

Deputy Virgil Lanning estimated damage to the entire front end of Ridge’s 2005 Dodge Caravan to be $2,500 to $5,000. The vehicle was towed by Jerry’s Wrecker Service. There were no injuries.

• On Sept. 29 at 10 a.m., Patricia L. Pleake, 65, of Greencastle, was attempting to park her 2002 Mazda Tribute at Putnam County Hospital when she mistakenly hit the gas pedal and struck a 2012 Chevrolet CZT registered to Timothy Cashion, of Cloverdale.

Deputy Virgil Lanning estimated damages to both front ends to be $1,000 to $2,500. There were no injuries.

• On Thursday at 7:30 a.m., Alyssa J. Finney Chew, 36, of Coatesville, was eastbound on County Road 1100 N. when she hit a deer in the road with her 2010 Mazda CX-9.

Captain Tom Helmer estimated front end damages to be $2,500 to $5,000. There were no injuries.

City Police

One arrest was reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 9:33 p.m. Thursday, Chris Neath, 56, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Zach Rhine.

Arrested on Avenue E, Neath was lodged in the Putnam County Jail on charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, driving with a suspended license with a prior offense and theft.

The theft charge involved used car batteries, police officials reported.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department recently responded to four dispatches and two medical runs.

• At 10:50 a.m. on Wednesday, GFD assisted the Bainbridge Fire Department in the extinguishment and overhaul of a structure fire located at 6563 N. County Road 100 East. The last unit for GFD cleared the scene at 1:42 p.m.

• At 7:59 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD responded to a motor-vehicle accident which occurred at the intersection of Jackson and Hanna streets. The Greencastle Police Department called GFD to perform a cleanup of fluids and debris from the roadway. GFD subsequently returned to station at 8:15 p.m.

• At 6:44 p.m. on Thursday, GFD responded to a fire alarm due to a cooking fire at 402 Anderson St. A microwave within the residence had malfunctioned and caught fire. However, flames had already been put out with a fire extinguisher by the residents upon arrival. GFD controlled the situation at 6:52 p.m. and returned to station at 7 p.m.

• At 9:45 p.m. on Thursday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 415 S. Locust St. The alarm was determined to have been set off unnecessarily at a pull station. GFD returned to station at 9:52 p.m.
