Katherine Marie Scott

Katherine Marie (Skinner) Scott, 83, of Bloomington, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016 with her loving family by her side.

Born Friday the 13th of January 1933, the daughter of Forrest Herschel and Nancy Louise (VanVactor) Skinner.

She was a 1952 graduate of Greencastle High School.

Katherine had worked at Moore's Shoe Store in Greencastle and retired from Smith Shoe Store in Bloomington.

Katherine loved being a mother, wife, sister, aunt and especially a grandmother. She looked forward to meeting her first great-grandbaby in November.

She was a very strong lady who loved the trips with family and friends. She was blessed to meet many wonderful friends, doing what she loved, camping.

She is survived by her husband, Franklin D. Scott; daughter Rhonda Scott; son Randy (Kristi) Scott; grandchildren Rebekah (Nick) Hale and Scott (Amber (Valenkamph); sisters Janet (Charles) Cox, Ruth Ann Hammond and Pam Billingsley; son-in-law Bert Valenkamph; brothers-in-law Wallace Estes and Marvin (Lee) Scott; sisters-in-law Patricia Steele, Shirley (Bill) Boltz and Brenda (Wayne) Weekly; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Nancy Scott Valenkamph; sister Charlotte Estes, and a nephew, Brian Hammond.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle.

Private family graveside services will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
