City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department recently responded to seven dispatches and one medical run.

• At 7:20 p.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a fire alarm due to cooking at 315 E. Hanna St. GFD returned to station at 7:29 p.m.

• GFD responded three separate dispatches early Saturday morning at 415 Anderson St., each due to a faulty detector head. Having first responded at 6:36 a.m. (clear at 6:57 a.m.), 7:39 a.m. (clear at 7:54 a.m.) and 8:14 a.m. (clear at 8:27 a.m.), the maintenance crew for the residence ultimately replaced the detector head.

• At 5:44 p.m. on Saturday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 330 Greenwood Ave. GFD was unable to find the cause of the alarm and determined it to have been set off unnecessarily. GFD subsequently reset the alarm and returned to station at 6:05 p.m.

• At 6:23 p.m. on Saturday, GFD responded to a fire alarm due to cooking at 414 S. Indiana St. GFD returned to station at 6:28 p.m.

• At 10:56 p.m. on Saturday, GFD assisted police at 17 S. Indiana St. after police received reports of a person on top of said-building. GFD provided a ladder for police who found no one on the building. GFD returned to station at 11:12 p.m.
