Peace Lutheran to host Reformation Harvest Festival

Thursday, October 27, 2016

Nearly 500 years ago an event occurred that changed the face of Western civilization and has affected nearly every person in Putnam County, whether they know it or not.

On Oct. 31, 1517, a relatively unknown professor named Martin Luther nailed 95 points for discussion (“Theses”) on the University of Wittenberg’s bulletin board (actually the castle church’s doors), and thus events were set in motion that would readjust how Christians make use of the Bible in their faith and life. These events became known as the Protestant Reformation.

On Oct. 29, 2016, the congregation at Peace Lutheran Church and School invites all to come to 1421 Bloomington St. to meet the most direct descendants of the Reformation tradition in Putnam County, to learn more about the Reformation’s historic impact, and to have fun with Trunk-or-Treat activities, a hayrack ride, pumpkin carving and a picnic.

The Trunk-or-Treat will run from 2-4:30 p.m., and the picnic will begin at 4:30 p.m.

For more information, persons may contact the Peace Lutheran Church office at 653-6995.
